Maharashtra is one of the major states in India in terms of the chemical and petrochemical production. There are more than 5,400 chemical industries in the state, out of which around 20% of the industries are large scale. The state is home to around 16% of the chemical industries in India and accounts for more than 17% of the domestic chemical production.
